My little guys LOVE this drink and I feel great about giving it to them.
Not only does it contain one full serving of nutritious, raw fruit, but also lots of great antioxidants, flavonoids, vitamins and minerals.
Add the optional flaxseed meal and instantly increase their intake of heart-healthy Omega-3 fatty acids, too.
This recipe is both lactose- and gluten-free. . . and is a GREAT alternative to chocolate milk.
It also takes only 2 minutes to whip up.
- 6 oz Coconut Milk (Vanilla or Regular)
- 1 Banana
- 1/2-1 Cup Filtered Ice
- 1-2 Tablespoons Raw Cacao Powder
- 1-2 Tablespoons Raw Honey or Pure Grade B Organic Maple Syrup
- 1-2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
- Dash of Sea Salt (Optional)
- Sesame Seeds (Optional)
- Flaxseed Meal (optional)
Simply throw all of the ingredients in a high-powered blender (we use a Vita-Mix) & blend until creamy.
Raw Cacao offers significant health benefits. It’s a veritable powerhouse of antioxidants, flavonoids, catechins and many other brain & body-enhancing elements. It’s also a terrific mood booster and has been found to be higher in antioxidant flavanols than either red wine or green tea. Cacao is also higher in antioxidants than most fruits and berries.
Unfortunately, though, when cacao is combined with dairy products the antioxidant benefits are cancelled out.
Good thing this recipe is non-dairy, right?
